A hands-on home lab focused on PostgreSQL database administration, operations, reliability, security, backup, recovery, and performance.
The lab runs on a personal Ubuntu Server and simulates a real database operations environment. The server is managed remotely from a personal workstation through SSH over Tailscale, while PostgreSQL environments are deployed and managed using Docker.
The project is designed to simulate the daily responsibilities of a Junior PostgreSQL Database Administrator, progressing gradually toward more advanced Database Engineer and Database Reliability Engineering responsibilities.
The laboratory includes isolated development, staging, and recovery environments where database changes, failures, backups, restores, configuration changes, and troubleshooting scenarios can be safely tested before interacting with production-like services.
